RRB ALP 2026 Eligibility Criteria:

RRB ALP 2026 Education Qualification:

Applicants must meet the required educational criteria and hold any one of the following qualifications.

Applicants must have passed 10th grade (Matriculation or SSC) + ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in relevant trades from a recognized university (NCVT/SCVT).

10th (Matriculation or SSC) + must have completed apprenticeship training in the relevant trade.

(OR)

10th (Matriculation or SSC) + Hold a diploma degree (3-year course) in engineering in the relevant trades.

(OR)

10th (Matriculation or SSC) + Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in the respective disciplines.

RRB ALP 2026 Age Limit: (As on 1st July 2026)

Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age as of July 4, 2026.

RRB ALP 2026 Age Relaxation: (Maximum Age Limit)

The age relaxation applies to all reserved category candidates, as per the Indian government rules and regulations.

RRB ALP Exam 2026 Selection Process:

The RRB ALP Exam 2026 selection process consists of four stages.

  1. CBT1 (Stage 1 – Computer Based Test 1) 
  2. CBT2 (Stage 2 – Computer Based Test 2)
  3. CBAT (Stage 3-Computer-Based Aptitude Test)
  4. DV (Document Verification)
  5. ME (Medical Examination)

1. CBT 1 (Stage 1 – Computer-Based Test 1): 

CBT 1 is the first round of an objective-type and online-mode screening test for shortlisting eligible candidates for CBT 2. This is the only qualifying round for CBT 2, and candidates who obtained marks in this stage will not be considered in the final stage.

  • Total time duration: 1 Hour (60 min)
  • Total No. of Questions: 75 Multiple-choice questions 
  • Total (Maximum) Marks: 75 marks (1 mark for each question)
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 Marks for each wrong answer
  • Minimum pass percentage for all communities:
      • UR & EWS – 40%,
      • OBC (NCL) – 30%,
      • SC – 30%,
      • ST – 25%

2. CBT 2 (Stage 2 – Computer-Based Test 1): 

Candidates will be shortlisted for CBT 2 based on their marks obtained in CBT 1, and qualifying candidates will appear for CBT 2. It is also an objective-type, online-mode exam and consists of two parts.

      1. CBT 2 (PART-A)
      2. CBT 2 (PART-B)
RRB ALP Exam Pattern of CBT 2:
  1. PART-A (CBT 2) Exam
    • Total time duration: 90 minutes
    • Total No. of Questions: 100 Multiple-choice questions 
    • Total (Maximum) Marks: 100 marks (1 mark for each question)
    • Negative Marking: 1/3 Marks for each incorrect answer
    • Minimum pass percentage for all communities:
      • UR & EWS – 40%,
      • OBC (NCL) – 30%,
      • SC – 30%,
      • ST – 25%
  1. PART-B (CBT 2) Exam
    • Total time duration: 1 Hour (60 min)
    • Total No. of Questions: 75 Multiple-choice questions 
    • Total (Maximum) Marks: 75 marks (1 mark for each question)
    • Negative Marking: 1/3 Marks for each wrong answer
    • This is the only qualifying round, and all candidates must achieve at least 35%, regardless of their community; these qualifying marks will not be included in the final merit list.

3. CBAT (Stage 3 – Computer-Based Aptitude Test):

Candidates who are qualified in PART-B and acquired eligible marks in PART-A of CBT 2 will be shortlisted for the CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) round.

Key Information about CBAT:
  • This CBAT round consists of multiple sections/test batteries. ALP job aspirants (irrespective of community) must qualify in each section/battery with a minimum T-score of 42.
  • There is no negative marking in the CBAT test, and it will be conducted in English and Hindi languages only.
  • During the CBAT, the shortlisted candidates must produce a vision certificate. Otherwise, they won’t be allowed to appear for the CBAT.

(70% weightage in Part-A of CBT-2) + (30% weightage for score obtained in the CBAT)

4. Document Verification (DV):

Candidates who cleared all stages in the RRB ALP 2026 recruitment process (Part-A of CBT-2 (70% weightage), qualifying in Part-B of CBT-2, and scoring 30% weightage in CBAT) will be shortlisted for the document verification. The RRB will check and verify the candidate’s original educational and other certificates at this stage to ensure his/her eligibility criteria.

5. Medical Examination (ME):

After successful completion of the original documents’ verification round, candidates will be called for a detailed medical examination. In this round, they examine the candidates’ vision, general physical fitness, and other factors to meet the medical standards as per the rules and regulations of RRB.

RRB ALP 2026 Salary Structure:

Salary of RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Level-2 post = 19,900 (Basic pay) + Other Allowances

  • Pay Scale = Level 2 Payscale under 7th CPC( Central Pay Commission)

Other Allowances:

    1. HRA (House Rent Allowance)
    2. DA (Dearness Allowance)
    3. TA (Transport Allowance)
    4. RA (Running Allowance)
    5. NPS Scheme (New Pension Scheme with a 10% deduction)
    6. Free Railway passes
    7. Medical Allowance, etc.

The initial salary range for RRB ALP posts, including all allowances, is between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000. It depends on the job posting location.

RRB ALP 2026 Exam Fee:

  • The exam fee for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Person with Benchmark Disability(PwBD), Transgender, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC) Communities/ categories – Rs 250/-
  • The Application fee For General, OBC( Non-creamy layer), EWS – Rs 500/-

Note: Only candidates who attend CBT-1 will receive a refund of their examination fee after deducting bank charges as applicable.

How to Apply For RRB ALP 2026 Online:

Step 1: Visit the RRB official website https://www.rrbapply.gov.in

Step 2: If you are a new applicant, you have to create a new account by clicking on the  ” Apply online link for CEN 01/2026 ALP” and register yourself by entering all your personal details, Name, DOB, Email id, Mobile number, Aadhar ID number, and verify your account by generating OTP. Please remember your registration number and password.

Step 3: After completion of your account creation and registration, again log in to your account by using your personal credentials and fill out the online application form by entering all your personal & educational qualification details ( Community, Gender, Religion, All your educational qualification details, your preferred RRB railway zone, etc.).

Step 4: Upload all your scanned copies of your passport-size photo, signature and required documents (Educational certificates, Caste certificate, etc.) as per the required size and format mentioned in the detailed official notification.

Step 5: Please check and review all details entered by you in the application form again, and pay the exam fee through online mode.

Step 6: Finally, submit the application form, download it and print out a copy for future reference.
