SSC Constable GD 2025: Good news for Central Government Job aspirants who want to serve their country. The Indian Government’s most reputable recruitment organisation, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), has officially announced and released a notification on its official website to fill 25,487 vacancies for SSC Constable GD 2025 across India. In 2026, the SSC(Staff Selection Commission) is going to conduct an exam nationwide to recruit eligible candidates from all over India for the Posts of SSC Constable GD 2025 in the CRPF(Central Reserve Police Force), CISF(Central Industrial Security Force), BSF(Border Security Force), ITBP(Indo-Tibetan Border Police), SSB(Sashastra Seema Bal), SSF(Secretariat Security Force) and Rifleman(General Duty) in Assam Rifles(AR).

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is under the control of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. Every year, SSC releases job notifications and conducts an exam to recruit eligible candidates for various categories of posts, Constable GD(General Duty), JE(Junior Engineer), SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level Exam), SSC CHSL(Combined Higher Secondary Level), SSC MTS(Multitasking Staff), and CPO(Central Police Organisation), Stenographer in the various Ministries and Department Of Government Of India and Subordinate Offices.

SSC GD Constable 2025 Recruitment: Eligibility Criteria, Age Limit & Age Relaxation

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality:

A candidate appearing for the SSC GD Constable 2026 must be a citizen of India.

A Candidate who is appearing for the SSC GD Constable Exam 2026, the candidate must submit a domicile certificate/ PRC against their domiciled state/ UT.

Education Qualification:

Candidates interested in applying for SSC GD 2025-26 must hold a 10th class passed certificate or a Matriculation examination certificate from a recognised State Board/University (as of 01-01-2026).

Required Age Limit (As on 01-01-2026):

• The Minimum Age Limit to Apply for the above Positions: 18 Years
•  The Maximum Age Limit to Apply for the above positions: 23 Years

Note: Candidates must be born between January 2, 2003, and January 1, 2008.

Age Relaxation:

• Applicants who belong to the OBC category, the Age Relaxation is: 3 Years 
• For SC/ST Applicants, the Age Relaxation is: 5 Years
• Ex-Servicemen: 3 Years
• Children and dependents of victims killed in the 1984 riots (Unreserved/EWS): 5 Years
• Children and dependents of victims killed in the 1984 riots (OBC): 8 Years
• Children and dependents of victims killed in the 1984 riots (SC/ ST): 10 Years

Salary Structure or Pay Scale:

The Basic Pay salary package range is :( Pay Level – 3) ₹ 21,700/- to ₹ 69,100/- Per month for all Posts.

Each Post has a different Basic Salary structure along with other Allowances – Dearness Allowance(DA), House Rent Allowance(HRA), Other Allowances(Medical and Travel)

Application Fee and Payment Mode:

Application Fee:

• Applicants who belong to SC(Scheduled Casts), ST(Scheduled Tribes), Ex-Servicemen(ESM), EWS category, the Application Fee is: No Exam Fee
• For all Women Candidates, the Application Fee is: No Exam Fee
• For other Applicants who belong to the OBC, General, EWS(Male) category, the Application Fee is:        ₹ 100/-

Payment Mode:

Applicants have to pay the Exam Fee through Online Mode only. There will be no other Mode or Method to pay the exam fee.

Online Fee Payment Modes:

Candidates have to pay the exam fee through the different online methods: UPI Payment, Net Banking, Any Debit card (Master, Visa, RuPay), and Credit card.

SSC GD Constable: Selection or Recruitment Process

The SSC Constable GD 2026 recruitment Process consists of multiple stages. They are,

1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE)
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
3. Physical Standard Test (PST)
4. Medical Examination (DME- Detailed Medical Examination/ RME-Review Medical Examination )
5. Document Verification

(1) Computer-Based Examination(CBE):

Total Number Of Questions = 80 (All are Objective Multiple Choice questions)

Total Marks = 160 Marks  &  Marks for the correct answer for each question= 2 Marks

Negative Marks for the wrong answer for each question = 0.25(Negative marks)

Time duration of Exam = 60 min( 1 hour )

Note:

If candidates have or hold an NCC certificate, additionally, those candidates will get bonus marks in the CBE test.

NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 5% of the maximum marks of the Examination
NCC ‘B’ Certificate: 3% of the maximum marks of the Examination
NCC ‘A’ Certificate: 2% of the maximum marks of the Examination

(2) Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 

Based on the Marks scored by candidates and Performance in the Computer-Based Examination(CBE), Candidates are shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test(PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).

In this PET test, shortlisted candidates will have to finish the Race within the specified time or the mentioned time.

Male Candidates:

Race —–> 5km in 24 minutes(Applicable for Candidates who do not belong to the Ladakh Region)

Race —–> 1.6km in 7 minutes(Applicable for Candidates who belong to the Ladakh Region)

Female Candidates:

Race —–> 1.6km in 8 1/2 minutes(Applicable for Candidates who do not belong to the Ladakh Region)

Race —–> 800 metres in 5 minutes(Applicable for Candidates who belong to the Ladakh Region)

(3) Physical Standard Test (PST):

In this PST, measure the Candidate’s Height, Chest and Weight.

Male:

Height – 170 cm (Height Relaxation is applicable for a few categories)

Chest   – Un-expanded: 80 cms, Minimum expansion: 5 cms (Chest Relaxation is applicable for a few categories)

Weight – Proportionate to Height and Age (As per the SSC GD Constable notification 2025)

Female:

Height – 157 cm ( Height Relaxation is applicable for a few categories)

Chest   – NA

Weight – Proportionate to Height and Age (As per the SSC GD Constable notification 2025)

(4) Medical Examination (DME- Detailed Medical Examination/ RME-Review Medical Examination ):

Those Candidates who clear the PET and PST tests will be shortlisted for Medical Examination and Document Verification. During the Detailed Medical Examination process, candidates are assessed for their physical and mental fitness.

(5) Document Verification:

Those candidates who are qualified in the CBE, PET, PST, and Detailed Medical Examination(DME) will be called for Document Verification. In this stage, they verify the candidate’s original educational documents, caste, age and other required documents, and finally, they will prepare a merit list of candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of the SSC Constable GD notification.

Step-by-Step Instructions to Apply for SSC Constable GD 2026:

Before applying for the Positions in the SSC Constable GD Recruitment 2026, Applicants must read the official notification and check their eligibility criteria and everything. Applicants have to follow the steps below while applying for the SSC Constable GD(General Duty).

(1) Open or navigate to the SSC official website at  https://ssc.gov.in

(2) First of all, Candidates have to register(One Time Registration) on the SSC official portal by clicking on the Login or Register option, then clicking on Register Now. After that, enter the Personal details(Mobile number, Email id, Date of birth, Aadhaar number, Candidate Name, Mother Name, Father Name, Gender and other basic details and set the Password and enter additional details like Nationality, Address, Educational details and other details. Then confirm your declaration and finally complete the Registration process.

(3) Again, log in to Your Registered account to fill out the Online Application Form. Enter all necessary details(Basic, Educational and personal) and capture your photograph, and upload the required documents(Educational, Signature scanned image, etc).

(4) Pay the application fee through Online Mode(UPI Payment, Net Banking, through any Debit card (Master, Visa, RuPay), and Credit card).

(5) Finally, review the Application form again and submit it and download the soft copy of your online Application form for future reference.
